I actually purchased this foundation, and it's a new favorite! Its a lightweight foundation that promises to last for 24 hours on the face. It also claims to be waterproof. It has a creamy texture that I find, glides nicely onto the skin. It is Mac's newest foundation for their summer collection. The formula is great for all skin types and helps to keep oil at bay.
This is a really cool product that I've been eyeing for a good while now. Korean beauty brands have been marketing foundations that come in an innovative cushion case for years now. Lancome has come out with their own cushion compact foundation and the reviews are out of this world. I love that the foundation comes in about 11 shades that can match the lightest and the darkest. From the video reviews I've seen, it holds up well during the day and gives a gorgeous satin finish to the skin.
E.l.f Cosmetics has finally come out with a brow pencil. Being someone who isn't too much into overly-done brows, and likes a simple filled in brow; I am really willing to try this out. It has a much more attractive price at only $2, while it's competitors like the Anastasia Brow Wiz retail for about $21. This pencil comes in many shades to suit your hair color as well.
I love a good highlighter. This one, that I think is limited edition, by Laura Mercier called 'Indiscretion' is a gorgeous rose gold highlighter. I love the design of the product, it gives me life! It is a bit pricey at $42 but a girl can really dream!
Now that the warmer months are upon us, I wanted to share the makeup that I wear on most days. This is a very light, and comfortable makeup look that is easy to achieve and wear.
So after my failed attempt at using the Mineralize Moisture Foundation (review here), I decided to purchase the newest foundation by Mac Cosmetics. The new Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation caught my eye while browsing the new releases section of the Mac website. It promises a waterproof formula (can also be used as a concealer), that wears for 24 hours! Mac claims that it is oil-free, budge-proof, and gives a natural satin finish. I purchased it in-store at Saks, because my shade, NW50, was sold out everywhere. It comes with.84 fl oz as opposed to the standard 1 fl ounce. I think Mac could have made it 1 fl oz though, considering it was $32. Regardless, let's see how I like this new foundation!
The foundation comes in a squeeze tube with 25 mL or .84 fl oz.
My shade in this foundation is NW50, the darkest it comes in. Upon swatching it on the back of my hand, it seemed shades lighter than my skin. Once blended out on my face, it blends in perfectly! The formula has a medium thick consistency, and smooths amazingly over the skin. It does not contain SPF, but that's fine for me as my moisturizer does. I use either a kabuki brush to blend this onto my skin or a damp beauty blender sponge and they work great. With this foundation I experienced medium coverage, that I think can easily be built upon because of how it sets.
Even though the consistency is initially a bit thick, it glides onto the skin and feels like nothing is on! That is one of my favorite things about it. It sets on the skin in about 30-45 seconds after applying. It feels dry to the touch, not sticky after it's applied. After that, it does not move! It gives a beautiful natural satin finish that is matte but allows a natural glow to shine through. You can see this below with the photos I included. All this makes me think that it will be great for all skin types.
This foundation lasts all day on my face, it does not allow for the skin to look too oily and maintains the natural satin finish all day. I wore this foundation to test it in my first impression review for about 6 hours and it looked great all day. I haven't worn it for 24 hours, who wears foundation for 24 hours??, so I cannot contest to that claim. I like that it does not move around on the face, which makes me excited to wear it during the hot summer months!
Here are some photos I took of how it wore on my face for about 6 hours.
I am very impressed with this foundation. It gives a very beautiful natural satin finish and is lightweight on the skin. My other makeup products like blush and concealer blend in nicely on top of this and I just love the ways it sets into place. It is very comfortable to wear and gives a nice medium coverage. I think that this has knocked my Iman BB Cream out of rotation for a while!
E.l.f Cosmetics, the brand famous for their extremely inexpensive products ranging from $1 to $10, has come out with their own line of skincare products. The line includes a serum, moisturizer, eye cream and a night cream. I received an email about this launch a couple months ago, and was really excited to see the offering. These are really inexpensive skincare buys that go hand in hand. I haven't tried any of these but I wanted to give a bit of info on each product.
This serum contains purified water and essential nutrients to help lock in moisture and reduce the look of fine lines for glowing, healthy-looking skin. E.l.f says that it can be used morning and evening after cleansing. I also took a look at the ingredients, which include: Shea Butter, Grape Seed Oil, and Aloe. I think this is aimed to dyer skin types. It sounds great for those who want to add moisture to the skin.
This moisturizer tells all that it does in it's name. It has a lightweight formula and is lightly fragranced, which is great for daily use. It contains: Jojoba, Aloe, Vitamin E, and Cucumber. It claims to be rich in antioxidants while soothing and protecting delicate skin.
This eye cream aims to help hydrate and minimize the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. I think that it could be a great and cheaper alternative to the pricier eye creams on the market. It can be used morning and night after cleansing. It contains: Cucumber, Shea Butter, Jojoba, and Green Tea Extract.
This night cream has purified water and essential nutrients to help hydrate and refresh skin overnight for glowing, healthy skin. It is infused with Jojoba, Aloe, Vitamin E, and Cucumber as well as antioxidants such as Shea Butter, Orange, and Lemon. I love the idea of a night cream to work on the skin during sleep.
Will you be trying out any of these skincare products?
