Benefit They're Real Mascara (Sample) Review !

Monday, April 22, 2013

Hi everyone! If you didn't know, last week on April 7th was the day I turned 16! As a Sephora Beauty Insider member I receive a free gift on my birthday. Every year the prize would change depending on what company wants to sponsor Sephora. The prize is usually a sample size of a product that is widely popular. This year I received a sample size of Benefit's They're Real Mascara as well as a sample of the Watts Up Highlighter. I'm really excited to have a chance to try out these products as I've heard a lot about them. Today I will be reviewing the They're Real Mascara and then on another day I will review the Watts Up highlighter. So lets get into the review!

Benefit's website states that this mascara "lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!"

The brush on this mascara is the perfect size for catching each and every lash. Most mascaras have a huge brush that can't reach all lashes and causes lashes to end up in a clumpy mess. This brush is also great for application onto the bottom lashes.

This mascara only comes in 1 formula, WaterProof. That is a negative for me because I have to fight to remove it from my eyes which causes me to rip out my eyelashes ( I know...) I prefer a mascara that can come off with a simple cleansing wipe. As for the formula's performance, I think that the formula is like any other mascara formula. I think that it is purely the brush that gives me really long, volumized lashes. The one thing I can say about the formula is that it doesn't dry to a flaky finish. It leaves my lashes feeling nice and soft.

Overall, I think that Benefit should put out a non-waterproof version of this mascara. I really love the brush because it catches every lash and makes lengthens them. I now know why they call it "They're Real"! My lashes look as if I applied a strip of falsies! I think I'll end up using this brush in another formula, when this dries up. I don't think I would purchase a full size of this mascara until they put out a non-waterproof version.
